Gonorrhea

Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae. This infection can be passed through direct contact with an infected person's body fluids, including semen, saliva, and vaginal fluids. Gonorrhea is one of the most common and preventable STIs, but can lead to serious health complications if left untreated. These complications include pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), infertility, and an increased risk of other STIs, such as HIV. Early diagnosis and treatment are the best ways to prevent the spread of gonorrhea and reduce the risk of complications. Treatment for gonorrhea typically consists of a single dose of antibiotics.
