Streptomycin

Streptomycin is a commonly used antibiotic that was the first to be discovered that could effectively treat tuberculosis. It is used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections, including pneumonia, ear infections, meningitis, sinusitis, and certain kinds of lung infections. It is also used to treat certain kinds of mycobacterial infections, such as leprosy and tuberculosis. Streptomycin works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis and protein synthesis, thereby stopping the growth of bacteria and killing them. Streptomycin is a valuable tool for clinicians when treating multiple types of bacterial infections.
