Pediatrics and Child Health Pediatric Anesthesiology
Pediatric Anesthesiology is a medical subspecialty focused on providing safe and effective anesthesia care to children of all ages. Anesthesiologists are responsible for the safe delivery of medications – such as anesthetics, analgesics, and sedatives – to ensure the patient's comfort and safety during any medical procedure. Pediatric anesthesiology also focuses on the care of critically ill and medically complex patients such as those with congenital heart disease or neurologic disorders, as well as the optimization of anesthesia care for patients with special needs. Pediatric anesthesiologists provide expertise in the areas of pain management, airway management, patient monitoring, and perioperative care in order to optimize outcomes for pediatric patients before, during, and after their procedures.
