Elbow Block

An elbow block is an anesthetic procedure used to provide pain relief for a specific area of the arm. By numbing the region, it prevents sensations of pain in the joint, allowing for surgery or other medical procedures to be performed with greater patient comfort. Elbow blocks are used to provide anesthesia during procedures such as arthroscopy, replacement or repair of elbow joint fractures, ligament reconstructions, and fracture reductions. The procedure is relatively simple, with the injection of a local anesthetic, such as lidocaine, into the area near the elbow joint. This technique is advantageous due to its low risk, minimal side effects, ease of administration, and its ability to provide pain relief for up to five hours.
