Cleft Lip Surgery
Cleft lip surgery is a type of plastic surgery that repairs the physical deformity at the upper lip caused by a cleft lip. It is performed by a plastic surgeon to correct the appearance of the lip and also to repair the function of the lip. The cleft lip is usually separated by a gap in the skin, which can affect the way the person breathes, eats, and speaks. Cleft lip surgery is typically done in infancy, but can be performed whenever needed. The surgery helps to improve the person’s physical appearance, while also helping to restore or improve the proper functioning of the lip. Additionally, it can boost the patient's self-esteem and emotional wellbeing.
