Antibody Isotypes
Antibody isotypes are a way of classifying antibodies based on their structure and immunological functions. They are proteins produced by the immune system to protect the body from pathogens. Antibody isotypes play a critical role in the body’s response to the presence of foreign materials, acting as an early defense against infection. They can also be used in clinical diagnostic tests, such as ELISA and western blotting, to confirm the presence of an infection or disease. Additionally, they are an important part of vaccine development and cancer immunotherapy.
