Antibody Isotype Determination
Antibody isotype determination is the process of determining the type of an antibody based on its molecular structure. Antibodies are proteins that are produced by the immune system to recognize and fight foreign substances such as viruses and bacteria. Each type of antibody has a distinct structure and specific binding characteristics that enable it to recognize and bind to specific antigens. Knowing the isotype of an antibody is important for researchers to determine which type of antibody may be best suited for a particular application. It can also be used to diagnose diseases and monitor the body’s immune response to a particular pathogen. Antibody isotype determination can also be used to produce tailor-made antibodies for therapeutic purposes.
