ity Amino acids are organic molecules composed of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen. They are the building blocks of proteins, and are therefore essential for life. Aromaticity is the property of an amino acid that makes it more stable due to a stabilization of its electrons. This property can have a great influence on the way the amino acid folds, and thus affects the protein's 3D structure and hence its biological activity. It is therefore an important factor in the proper functioning of proteins and thus a fundamental aspect of biology. Aromaticity of amino acids can be identified through spectroscopic techniques and is used to study the structure and function of proteins, as well as to elucidate the biochemical pathways in which they are involved.
