Respiratory Diseases
Respiratory diseases are illnesses which affect the lungs and other organs involved in breathing. These can range from minor and temporary conditions such as the common cold to more serious long-term diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Common symptoms include shortness of breath, wheezing and coughing. Treatment options vary depending on the type and severity of the disease and may include lifestyle changes and medications. Early diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases is vital, as some can lead to life-threatening complications. In addition, these diseases can have a significant impact on quality of life. It is therefore important to recognize the signs and symptoms so as to seek medical help early.
