Respiratory Allergies

Respiratory allergies are a condition that affects the airways, causing symptoms such as coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath and chest tightness. They are usually caused by exposure to airborne allergens, such as pet dander, pollen, molds, dust mites and air pollutants. Allergic reactions can range from mild, temporary irritation to more serious chronic conditions. Treatment typically involves avoiding the triggers, taking medications and immunotherapy (allergy shots). Managing allergies may help improve quality of life and prevent serious complications such as asthma attacks.
