Mesothelioma
Mesothelioma is an aggressive and fatal form of cancer that affects the mesothelium, a thin layer of cells that lines the inside of the chest and abdomen. It is caused by exposure to asbestos, a material that was commonly used in construction and other industries up until the late 1970s. Mesothelioma is a highly treatable condition if diagnosed early, however it is often difficult to detect due to its slow-developing nature. If left untreated, it can lead to a variety of complications including fatigue, shortness of breath, and fluid buildup in the chest or abdomen. Treatment options include surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. It is important for anyone who was exposed to asbestos to be aware of the risks associated with mesothelioma and to seek medical care if any symptoms present.
