Chronic Bronchitis
Chronic bronchitis is a condition that is characterized by prolonged inflammation of the bronchial tubes, which are the airways that lead to the lungs. Symptoms of chronic bronchitis include a persistent, productive cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, and fatigue. It is most common in people who are exposed to air pollution and cigarette smoke, and those with weakened immune systems. Treatment of chronic bronchitis consists of lifestyle changes, such as quitting smoking, avoiding pollutants, medications, and in some cases, surgery. Chronic bronchitis can cause long-term damage to the lungs, but with proper treatment, many people are able to manage their symptoms and prevent further complications.
