Biopsies

A biopsy is a medical procedure in which a small sample of tissue is removed from an area of the body for examination in a laboratory. This is done in order to understand a patient's health condition, diagnose a disease and/or determine the type of treatment that is needed. A biopsy is a highly valuable and reliable diagnostic tool that can provide essential information to help diagnose, monitor and treat a variety of diseases and conditions, ranging from cancers to autoimmune disorders. Biopsies can be used to aid in the diagnosis of cancer, to provide information regarding the stage and aggressiveness of the cancer, to monitor the effectiveness of treatments, and to indicate a recurrence of the cancer.
