Allergens
An allergen is a substance that causes an allergic reaction when ingested, inhaled, touched or injected into the body. Allergens can be found in food, pet fur, dust, mold, pollen and certain medications. The severity of an allergic reaction can range from mild discomfort to a potentially life-threatening situation. Allergens are important to recognize and avoid as they can be a major cause of medical conditions such as anaphylaxis, asthma, and hay fever. Knowing and being able to identify the various allergens can help those affected to remain healthy and safe.
