Acrodermatitis
enteropathica Acrodermatitis enteropathica is an inherited genetic skin disorder characterized by severe skin rashes, hair loss, and diarrhea. The most common form of this condition is caused by a mutation in the gene that encodes a zinc-transporter protein, leading to a deficiency of zinc in the body. The primary symptom of this disorder is the eruption of red, scaly, and itchy rashes along with hair loss that typically occur on the face, hands, feet, arms, and legs. In addition, patients may experience gastrointestinal problems, impaired vision, and other related symptoms. Treatment for this disorder includes zinc supplementation and dietary modifications. This condition is both preventable and treatable, but without prompt and proper treatment, it can cause a range of life-threatening complications.
