Seizures & Tremors

A seizure is a sudden, uncontrolled electrical disturbance in the brain. It can cause changes in behavior, movements, or feelings and sometimes loss of consciousness. Seizures are the result of abnormal brain activity and can cause a variety of symptoms including uncontrolled movements, changes in vision or hearing, loss of consciousness, and jerking or trembling. Tremors are an involuntary, rhythmic muscle contraction and relaxation that cause shaking movement of the body. Tremors can be caused by a variety of medical conditions, including Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, and essential tremor. Seizures and tremors can have serious effects on one's life and health. Treatments for these conditions range from medications to surgery to lifestyle changes, depending on the cause and severity. Knowing the signs and symptoms of these conditions can help people recognize a problem early and get the treatment they need.
