Feline Epilepsy

Feline epilepsy is a neurological disorder of cats characterized by recurrent seizures. Seizures are caused by abnormal electrical discharges in the brain and can cause temporary loss of consciousness, abnormal behavior, and abnormal movements. Seizures can range from mild to severe, with some cats having multiple seizures in a day or even cluster events that occur over weeks or months. Feline epilepsy is important to identify and treat as it can be a symptom of an underlying disease. Treatment of feline epilepsy includes lifestyle modifications, anti-seizure medications, supplements, and stress reduction. Early recognition and treatment helps minimize the severity of the seizures and can provide cats with a better quality of life.
