Epilepsy in Women & Inborn
Errors of Metabolism Epilepsy in women and inborn errors of metabolism are two medical conditions that require special attention, both in diagnosis and treatment. Epilepsy affects over 3 million Americans and is commonly seen in women; it is caused by abnormal electrical activity in the brain. Inborn errors of metabolism are inherited conditions that prevent the proper functioning of the body’s cells, leading to decreased energy production and metabolic imbalances. Treatments for both conditions range from medication, to lifestyle changes and dietary modifications, to surgery. With proper diagnosis and management, quality of life can be improved and symptoms can be reduced.
