Encephalitis

Encephalitis is an inflammation of the brain, caused by either a virus or a bacterial infection. It can cause a range of symptoms, from mild headaches and confusion to seizures, paralysis and ultimately, death. Treatment of encephalitis involves anti-viral or anti-bacterial medications, depending on the cause. Early diagnosis and treatment is critical for a good recovery. Symptoms of encephalitis must not be ignored - if left untreated, it can lead to long-term neurologic problems like memory loss, cognitive impairment, and personality changes. Patients with encephalitis require urgent medical care.
