Stomatology
Stomatology is a branch of medicine that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases of the oral cavity, jaws, and associated structures. It involves the examination and physical management of the oral cavity and related structures, as well as the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disorders affecting the mouth and surrounding tissues. Stomatology plays an important role in the overall health and wellbeing of patients; its treatments can improve quality of life and reduce the risk of systemic diseases. Examples of the treatments performed by stomatologists include dental implants, orthodontics, root canal treatments, and prosthetics. Additionally, some stomatologists may also provide cosmetic dentistry, periodontal care and maxillofacial surgeries. Stomatology is a critical part of the health care system and its practitioners are dedicated to helping patients achieve better oral health.
