Geriatric Nursing

Geriatric nursing is the specialized practice of caring for older adults. It requires knowledge and skills in the management of chronic illnesses and age-related conditions, as well as an understanding of the physical, psychological, and social needs of the elderly. Geriatric nurses are trained to assess the needs of elderly patients, and to provide care that is effective, safe, and tailored to the unique needs of each individual. The goal of geriatric nursing is to promote quality of life for the elderly, to improve their independence and overall health, and to reduce incidents of disability and disability-related healthcare costs. Geriatric nurses are an invaluable resource, helping families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to better manage the health needs of elderly people.
