Clinical Pharmacology
Clinical pharmacology is the science of drugs, their effects, and their use in the practice of medicine. It is a field of healthcare in which pharmacists, doctors, and scientists study the effects of a drug on a living organism and its interactions with other medicinal products and environmental factors. Understanding how drugs work and how they interact with the organs, tissues, cells and molecules of the body is essential for making informed decisions about prescribing and using drugs. Clinical pharmacology also covers different aspects such as pharmacokinetics (the study of how drugs are absorbed, distributed, metabolized, and eliminated from the body), drug interaction, and therapeutic effectiveness. Clinical pharmacology is used to inform the safe and effective use of drugs, optimize therapeutic outcomes and improve the quality of healthcare.
