Cardiac Arrest
Cardiac arrest is a medical emergency in which the heart abruptly stops functioning and the patient collapses due to a sudden loss of normal circulation of blood throughout the body. It is a life-threatening condition that requires immediate medical intervention and resuscitative measures such as CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and/or automatic external defibrillation. Early recognition of this potentially fatal condition and initiation of treatment are critical for improving the survival rate and minimizing long-term morbidity and mortality.
