Prep Implementation
Prep Implementation is the process of introducing Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (Prep) into a population in order to reduce HIV transmission. Prep is a single medication taken daily, and has been shown to reduce the risk of HIV infection in a person by up to 99%. Prep Implementation is an important strategy for controlling the spread of HIV, and is becoming increasingly popular in high-risk demographics in many countries around the world. By providing access to Prep, individuals who do not have access to other preventive strategies are able to protect themselves from acquiring HIV. Prep Implementation also works to reduce stigma and discrimination, by fostering an understanding of HIV prevention as a shared responsibility.
