Myositis
Myositis is an inflammation and weakening of the muscles that causes pain. It is most commonly caused by autoimmune diseases like lupus or rheumatoid arthritis, but may also be caused by injury, infection, or certain medications. Myositis is a serious medical condition that can lead to disability if not managed properly. Treatment for myositis involves medications that reduce inflammation and physical therapy to help strengthen and maintain muscle function. With appropriate care, people with myositis can lead normal, healthy lives.
