Inflammation

Inflammation is the body's natural response to injury or infection. It is characterized by redness, swelling, pain, and heat, and happens when the immune system releases a cascade of chemicals that act to rid the body of harmful agents. By initiating the immune response, inflammation helps the body heal and can be an important defense against pathogens. However, chronic inflammation can lead to a variety of health issues, including autoimmune diseases, cancer, and coronary heart disease. Managing inflammation is essential to overall health and many lifestyle changes and medications can help reduce it.
