Hashimoto's Disease
Hashimoto’s disease is an autoimmune disorder where your body’s immune system attacks the thyroid gland. It is the most common form of thyroiditis, and occurs when your immune system produces antibodies that target the thyroid gland and cause inflammation. This can lead to an underactive thyroid, which can cause fatigue, depression, weight gain, and an inability to concentrate. Hashimoto’s disease is a serious condition, but with treatment and lifestyle changes, symptoms can be managed. Treatment typically involves taking synthetic thyroid hormone, eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and avoiding stress.
