Biotechnology

Biotechnology is the use of living organisms, or parts of living organisms, to develop or modify products, improve plants/animals, or develop microorganisms to enhance our environment. It has the potential to revolutionize healthcare, food production, renewable energy, and the environment, making it one of the most important technologies of our time. Biotech applications have been used to produce living organisms that produce human insulin, grow crops that are resistant to pests and weather extremes, and create bacteria which can digest oil spills. Its applications are broad and varied and range from clinical diagnostics to industrial processes. Its potential for future applications is enormous and set to change the way we live.
