Antibiotics
Antibiotics are medications used to kill or stop the growth of bacteria in the body. Antibiotics work by blocking the ability of bacteria to make proteins essential for its growth. By preventing the production of proteins, antibiotics can kill the bacteria or stop them from multiplying. This can be critically important in treating infections caused by bacteria, a common cause of sickness and death worldwide. Antibiotics are used to treat many common infections, including urinary tract infections, skin infections, pneumonia, and other bacterial infections. They can also help prevent infections from occurring after surgery or from certain medical procedures.
