Biography:

  • He is a graduate from University of Nairobi with a BSc in Zoology, Botany and Meteorology with a BSc. dissertation in Applied Agricultural Entomology and MSc in Medical Parasitology with MSc.
  • Thesis in Immunology and Epidemiology of bovine cysticercosis of livestock in Kenya.
  • He earned his PhD and an Education Certificate from Wageningen University and Research Centre, the Netherlands in Production Ecology and Resource Conservation (in applied entomology and parasitology for livestock) with a 3-year laboratory and field research at the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE), Nairobi, Kenya.
  • Prof. Wanzala is an accomplished scholar, currently an Associate Professor in Biological/Biomedical Sciences and scientist at Maasai Mara University, Narok, Kenya.
  • He teaches and conducts research and consultancy in Biological and Biomedical Sciences and their associated applied disciplines of Agriculture, Medicine, Pharmacy and Ethnomedicines.
  • Currently, he is involved in an on-going research on mapping the existing, emerging and re-emerging vector-borne pathogens and diseases in Kenya for healthcare preparedness at the coastal line of Kenya and developing review articles on the role of medicinal plants in the 21st century and the sustainable use of soils as a source of pharmaceutical agents.
  • He is an entrepreneur in education sector in Kenya and also actively involved in the development and evaluation of various academic programmes purely for higher education purposes.
  • He recently published a review article on the Quest for Quality and Relevant Higher Education, Training and Learning in Kenya: an Overview, in an Education Journal in the USA.
