Genetic Screening
Genetic screening is a medical testing process used to identify individuals with a specific genetic disorder or an increased risk of developing a genetic disorder. Individuals may be tested for a single gene or several genetic markers, depending on the disorder being tested for. Screening is used to provide early diagnosis and treatment of genetic disorders, allowing for better health outcomes. It is also used to identify people who are gene carriers for a particular disorder, reducing the risk of transmitting the disorder to their children. Genetic screening has enabled the prevention and early treatment of a wide range of serious and often fatal genetic disorders and has improved the health outcomes of millions of people.
