Genetic Disorders in Adults

Genetic disorders are conditions that are caused by changes or mutations in a person's genetic material. These changes can be inherited from a parent, or they can be acquired during a person's lifetime. Genetic disorders often lead to physical and mental health problems in adults and can affect their ability to function in everyday life. Treatment of genetic disorders varies, depending on the disorder, but may include genetic counseling, medications, and in some cases, surgery. Genetic testing can be used to diagnose and monitor some genetic disorders in adults, helping to improve outcomes and lead to a higher quality of life.
