Sugar Acids
Sugar acids are organic acids that contain a hydroxyl group as well as a carboxylic acid group attached to a carbon atom. They have a range of industrial and agricultural applications, from food preservatives to cosmetic and pharmaceutical agents. In the food industry, sugar acids are used as a preservative to inhibit bacterial growth and extend the shelf life of food products. They are also used to enhance flavours and contribute to the viscosity of food products. In the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industry, sugar acids are used to create creams, lotions, shampoos, and other products. They can act as moisturizers, emulsifiers, and surfactants, and can also stabilize and preserve cosmetics and medications. Sugar acids are an important part of the biomedical industry, providing an array of therapeutic benefits due to their antimicrobial, antifungal, and antiviral properties.
