Osteocalcin
Osteocalcin, also known as bone Gla protein, is a protein produced by osteoblasts (bone-forming cells) and is essential for maintaining healthy bones. It is involved in a variety of biological processes, including bone formation and mineralization, glucose and fat metabolism, and cardiovascular health. In addition, recent studies suggest that osteocalcin may also have anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, and anti-cancer properties. Osteocalcin concentrations in the body are affected by lifestyle, diet, age, and other factors. Low levels of osteocalcin have been linked to an increased risk of osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, and other age-related conditions. Thus, it is important to maintain adequate circulating levels of osteocalcin to ensure healthy bones and overall health.
