Lipogenesis
Lipogenesis is the process by which fatty acids and other lipids are synthesized from carbohydrates. This process is essential to the maintenance of cell membrane structure, metabolic processes like energy production and nutrient storage, and the production of hormones. Lipogenesis also plays a crucial role in certain diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome, helping to regulate energy balance and proper functioning of the body. Lipogenesis can be regulated through nutritional choices, such as consuming a low-carbohydrate diet and incorporating regular physical activity. This can help to improve overall health and reduce the risk of developing chronic health conditions.

Glycomics is particularly important in microbiology because glycans play diverse roles in bacterial physiology. Metabolomics combines strategies to identify and quantify cellular metabolites using sophisticated analytical technologies with the application of statistical and multi-variant methods for information extraction and data interpretation.
