Insulin Tolerance
Test The insulin tolerance test (ITT) is an important test used to assess how the body responds to insulin. It helps diagnose a variety of metabolic and hormonal disorders, such as diabetes and hypoglycemia. During the test, a patient is injected with insulin and their blood glucose levels are measured at different times to see how the body reacts. If there is an abnormal reaction, it can indicate an underlying disorder. The ITT can also be used to diagnose adrenal insufficiency, diagnose and manage Cushing's syndrome, and adjust dosage of medications needed to treat diabetes. The ITT is an important medical tool with many useful applications.
