Insulin Resistance
Insulin resistance is a condition where the body's cells become desensitized to the effects of the hormone insulin. When insulin resistance is present, the body’s cells don’t respond as well to insulin and require more of it to do its job. This can lead to a number of health problems, including type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and weight gain. Treatment of insulin resistance typically involves lifestyle changes, such as increasing physical activity and eating a healthy diet, in combination with medications like metformin and pioglitazone. It is important to recognize and address insulin resistance, as it can have serious health consequences if left untreated.
