Glycans and Inflammation
Glycans are a kind of carbohydrate or sugar which are found on the surface of all cells in the body. They are an important part of the immune system, and are known to be involved in inflammation. They help to activate many of the body's main immune cells and control their activity, helping to regulate the response to infection and disease. As such, glycans play an important role in the body's ability to fight off infections and diseases, and therefore in maintaining overall health. They are also involved in many other biological processes, including cell differentiation and communication. This makes them an important target for the development of new medications and treatments, particularly with regards to inflammation.
