Dextran

Dextran is a polysaccharide composed of several linked glucose molecules that is produced by bacteria in response to glucose fermentation. It has a wide range of applications, including use as a nutrient supplement for tissue culture, an excipient in drug formulations and an aid for chromatography. It is also used in medical and dental applications, such as dry eye treatment and gum tissue repair. Dextran is a high molecular weight substance that is highly hydrophilic and can form strong hydrogen bonds, making it highly stable and durable. Its unique structure and properties make it a key addition to many research and industrial applications.
