Retrotransposons

Retrotransposons are mobile genetic elements that replicate and move around within genomes. They can contribute to the evolution and variation of genomes by inserting copies of themselves at different locations within the genome. They can also provide regulatory elements, such as promoters and enhancers, that regulate gene expression. In some cases, retrotransposons may also be involved in disease processes. Retrotransposons are an important part of understanding the evolution and function of our genome.
