Microevolution
Microevolution is the process of evolutionary change over time at the genetic and small-scale level. It is the basis of the large-scale changes seen over longer periods of time, causing evolutionary divergence and speciation. Microevolution is a key concept in evolutionary biology and has many applications, from understanding biodiversity within species to the development of new drugs and treatments for disease. It can also help us to better understand the past and predict the future of populations, allowing us to better manage resources, predict outbreaks of disease, and create conservation strategies.
