Hedgehog Signaling

Hedgehog signaling is an important signaling pathway involved in the development and maintenance of cells in animals and humans. It is essential for many cellular processes such as growth, migration, differentiation and tissue maintenance. Hedgehog signaling is active throughout life and is important for proper embryonic development, tissue repair and regeneration. Mutations in the components of this pathway can lead to cancer, birth defects, developmental disorders and other diseases. The Hedgehog signaling pathway is being studied for its potential applications in cancer diagnosis and treatment, regenerative medicine and drug development.
