Genetics and Genomics Nuclear Structure and Function
Genetics and Genomics is an interdisciplinary field of science focused on understanding the structure and function of genes, the building blocks of the genetic code. It has applications in areas such as medicine, agriculture and biotechnology, allowing us to gain insight into the mechanisms of health and disease, and develop new treatments and techniques. Nuclear Structure and Function focusses on the interaction between the nucleic acids and proteins that make up the genetic material, and how this structure affects the expression of genes. By understanding this process, scientists can gain important insights into how the genetic code is transmitted from parent to offspring and how genetic mutations can occur. This knowledge can help to improve the diagnosis and treatment of genetic diseases, as well as keeping track of disease-causing mutations.
