DNA Replication
DNA replication is an essential process for the survival of all organisms. It is the process by which genetic information is transferred from one generation to the next. During DNA replication, a strand of DNA is used as a template to make two identical copies of the genetic information. This allows the genetic material to be passed on from parent to offspring. DNA replication is essential for maintaining genetic stability and for the growth and development of a cell or organism. By understanding the mechanisms of DNA replication, scientists are able to gain further insight into the causes of mutations, genetic diseases, cancer and other genetic disorders. Furthermore, knowledge of DNA replication is crucial for developing new treatments, therapies and gene editing techniques.
