Denaturation

Denaturation is a process in which a molecule, typically a protein, changes its shape and function as a result of being exposed to certain environmental conditions. This process can be caused by a variety of factors, including exposure to heat, pH changes, and certain chemicals. Denaturation is important as it affects the properties of a molecule, and thus can alter its application. Proteins denatured by heat are often used in cooking, for example in baking and boiling. Denaturation has also been used in biotechnology and medicine, for applications such as the production of therapeutic proteins and enzymes.
