Trichosporon is a significant organism in medical research, as it can cause disease in both humans and animals. It is often used in laboratory studies to study fungal infections and species-specific antifungal agents. In addition, Trichosporon is used in biotechnology for a variety of applications, such as producing enzymes and polysaccharides that can be used in the food industry and for making biodegradable plastics.
