Fonsecaea
pedrosoi Fonsecaea pedrosoi is a species of fungus that is known to cause chromoblastomycosis, a skin infection. This infection can cause lesions on the skin that can result in permanent skin damage if left untreated. It is most commonly found in warm, humid climates and is usually contracted through direct contact with soil or vegetative debris that is contaminated with the fungus. Fonsecaea pedrosoi has a significant impact on the health of people in tropical and subtropical areas, and the need for effective treatment and prevention of chromoblastomycosis is becoming increasingly important.
