Antimicrobials

Antimicrobials are chemicals or compounds that kill or inhibit the growth of microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa. They are used to prevent and treat infections caused by microorganisms, including those caused by humans and animals. Their use is essential in healthcare, food safety, and animal husbandry. Antimicrobials are also important in controlling the spread of infectious diseases and reducing the risk of foodborne illnesses. They can also help to preserve food, keep surfaces clean, and reduce the need for antibiotics. As the threat of antibiotic resistance increases, the use of antimicrobials is becoming increasingly important in controlling the spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
