Actinomyces

Actinomyces are a genus of soil-dwelling bacteria that can be beneficial to humans and the environment by providing natural antibiotic properties, helping to degrade organic matter, and playing an important role in nutrient cycling. They have been used in medicine in various ways such as to reduce the growth of certain bacteria, treat respiratory tract and gum infections, and as an additional treatment for periodontal disease. In agriculture, they can improve soil fertility and plant growth while also helping to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers. Actinomyces can also be used in biodegradation of various pollutants, and in industrial processes such as food production, wine fermentation, and waste water treatment.
