Tubers

Tubers are enlarged underground stem structures produced by some plants and adapted to provide energy storage and vegetative propagation. Tubers are an important part of world food production and are a significant source of nutrition for many cultures. Common examples include potatoes, yams, cassava, and Jerusalem artichokes. Tubers are nutrient-dense and are a good source of carbohydrates and many vitamins and minerals. They can be cooked in various ways and used in a variety of recipes. In addition to being a food source, tubers are also used in traditional medicines and folk remedies.
